What is RideBuddies?
A shared map.
Your riding crew.
RideBuddies is a location-sharing and navigation app for people riding together. See where your buddies are, choose somewhere to meet, and find each other when the group gets separated.
It’s not about making everyone ride at the same pace. It’s about knowing where the crew is.
Who it’s for
The friends you ride with.
Weekend motorcycle groups, cousins heading out together, and the person who usually ends up checking on everyone. It’s especially useful when riders leave from different places, take different turns, or stop along the way.
You don’t need a riding club or a big group. You do need each participating rider to have the app, join the same ride, and have mobile data for live updates.
How it works
Make a plan. Keep each other in view.
Create a ride.
Name it, choose a meet-up point and destination, and set a departure time. Use an existing group if you have one.
Invite your buddies.
Share the ride’s QR code or RB ride code. Your buddies review the ride and decide whether to share their location.
Start from wherever you are.
A meeting point isn’t a fixed starting line. Each rider sees their own position and navigation from their own location, alongside the rest of the crew.
Regroup when plans change.
Pick a place on the map when someone falls behind or the group needs a stop. Everyone can see the shared regroup point.
Inside the app
More than another “where are you?” call.
- See the crew on one map
- Recognizable rider markers, location updates and distance information help you see who’s where. Older locations are labelled instead of presented as live.
- Navigate your own way
- Use in-app navigation to the meet-up point or destination, with rerouting from your position. Voice guidance can be muted.
- Share without navigating
- A buddy can keep their phone in their pocket and share location without following a route in RideBuddies.
- Choose when to share
- Pause sharing or leave the ride. Background updates require location permission and suitable phone settings. The host can end the ride, stopping its sharing.
- Keep your group for next time
- Reuse a group for another outing, with a new ride and invitation.
Built from a real ride
Useful when we lost the group.
On a trip to Shivanasamudra, a separated rider and a shared stop gave us a practical reason to keep the app open.
